Google and Offline map data

Had a chuckle today as I was searching for navigation options for my Galaxy S Android phone. While searching I cam across this thread dedicated to the availability of offline maps for the google navigation software - http://www.google.co.za/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=3634773013544912&hl=en Dave874 asked: Are there any plans to make Android Google Maps/Navigation available offline, when internet connection is not available? I love Android Google Maps, but I'm frustrated.....

EDIT: I see SAGNS has updated and improved their website since this article (edited: 15 September 2009) A while back, while working on a rural settlements database, we were asked to consider the SAGNS database as a reference for settlement names. The data that we received was, to put it mildly, very poor. Locations were in the sea, in the northern hemisphere, in South America and for 50% of the database - nowhere at all. added to that, the alphanumeric data was full of mistakes and errors......

ArcMap - "Cannot map metafile into memory"

"Cannot map metafile into memory. Not Enough Memory" - does that look familiar? There is certainly a lot of literature about on the net. So what does it mean?. Well according to the ESRI: "When ArcMap prints or exports to any format, an EMF file is created. Windows attempts to allocate enough memory to read the entire EMF metafile. If it cannot allocate a large enough contiguous block of memory, Windows returns a NULL or '0' EMF handle, and ArcMap displays the error message." What I do fi.....
