Sappi Track and Trace

sappiEarlier in the year Quartex technologies implemented the Track & Trace system for Sappi Manufacturing. The objective of the system is to provide greater visibility of the logistics operations carried out by third party transport providers. The system comprises a custom application with a spatial interface powered by Mapexchange, the Quartex Web Mapping Service.

Logistics planning and despatch information from SAP and other internal systems is integrated with the tracking services of the various transporters to allow the management at Sappi to view where their shipments are in real time, and to proactively manage customer expectations and transport contractors. The system has been rolled out to all nine distribution centres around South Africa.

Sappi and Quartex are currently investigating the options for including more ad hoc transport contractors in the programme.
