Quartex technologies were appointed as part of the VAMP consortium to undertake Eskom's Western Gauteng Network Master Plan. Our role in this project was the development of the Geographical Load Forecast.

We have recently completed a web-based mapping application for a forestry company. The solution allows the end-users to interact with their data and extract critical information related to the forestry compartments. They also have the ability to create and print Pdf maps.

Paul Storry: Director

Enablis LaunchPad 2009 WinnerPaul Storry started his working life as an Operational Research analyst for a British health authority, providing analysis to effect efficiency improvements. This was followed by a few years as a Research Fellow in a commercial biofuels research project at the University of Aberdeen where he was involved in the development of statistical harvesting productivity models and application development. Paul emigrated to South Africa in 1994 to work with Sappi Forest Products, initially in growth and yield modelling, and subsequently in logistics optimisation projects in both the forestry and paper divisions. In the last few years he has put his project management and analysis skills to use in a wide variety of software development projects in the public and private sector.

Andrew is a qualified hydrologist with exceptional GIS skills which he has put to good use since his first appointment with Umgeni Water as a GIS analyst. He has applied this knowledge to many sectors including water, forestry, agriculture while working with an engineering consultancy . In addition , he has developed numerous GIS applications to enable the dissemination of spatial information to non specialists. This experience has led to further projects involving both GIS consultancy, systems architecture and design and business process consultancy. More recently Andrew has been involved in development projects integrating both project management methodologies and GIS information with local and national government.

Craig Saunders spent considerable time as a specialist cadastral and engineering surveyor, building up a wealth of experience in engineering projects ranging from utilities infrastructure to town planning. With this background and his qualifications in Surveying, Civil Engineering and Datametrics, he has been able to provide professional consulting and business analysis services to clients in both the public and private sector relating to the analysis and management of data relating infrastructure assets and project management. Additionally, his understanding of the engineering sector and close involvement with GIS technologies ensures the practical translation of user requirements in information management systems

Shane McCarthy started his working career in IT hardware and network support with an engineering consultancy. His interest in information technology in general led to the application development sphere. This has been his focus for the past eight years, where he has been the systems architect, database architect and developer for a range of systems ranging from mobile and wireless applications to full blown ERP and MIS systems. His considerable experience is backed up by his Microsoft Certified Professional status in a number of disciplines.
